Síndrome de burnout en estudiantes de doctorado en ciencias de la salud en Puno, PerúMain Article Content
Introduction: Burnout syndrome among doctoral-level healthcare professionals is a growing problem in Andean contexts, with limited local evidence to guide effective interventions. Objective: To evaluate the dimensions of burnout syndrome and their correlations in doctoral students in Health Sciences in Puno, Peru. Methods: A descriptive-correlational study was conducted with 120 healthcare professionals enrolled in a doctoral program. The Maslach Burnout Inventory, adapted to the Peruvian context, was administered. Results: A strong positive correlation was found between emotional exhaustion and depersonalization (ρ=0.662; p<0.001), a moderate inverse correlation with personal accomplishment (ρ=-0.523; p=0.002), and a strong inverse correlation between depersonalization and personal accomplishment (ρ=-0.760; p<0.001). Personal accomplishment is a fundamental element that protects against emotional deterioration and cynical detachment. Conclusions: The dimensions of burnout show a robust interrelationship that confirms Maslach's three-factor model in Peruvian doctoral students in the Health Sciences.
